Kenya and Tanzania fined by CAF for breach of regulations in their CHAN matches

The Confederation of African football Disciplinary Board has imposed fines on the Kenyan football federation and Tanzanian football federations for breaching the code of regulations during the ongoing African Nations championship.

The CAF Disciplinary Board charged the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) with breaching Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code as well as Articles 15, 31, and 32 of the CAF Safety and Security Regulations during the match between Kenya and DR Congo.

The CAF Disciplinary Board found FKF guilty and imposed the following sanctions:

• A fine of USD 5,000 for the stampede and unauthorized access.
• A fine of USD 10,000 for the assault on CAF personnel and guests.
• A warning for the ignition of fire inside the stadium.

The CAF Disciplinary Board has also charged the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) with a breach of CAF’s Safety and Security obligations as stipulated in Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code and Articles 24 and 28 of the CAF Safety & Security Regulations.

The charge stems from incidents during Tanzania and Burkina Faso where fans in the stands misbehaved and broke safety and security protocols.

The CAF Disciplinary Board found Tanzania Football Federation guilty and imposed a fine of USD 10,000.

All fines are to be paid within 60 days of notification of this decision.
