CHAN Chronicles:CHAN Pamoja numbers ahead of Morocco -Madagascar final
The 8th edition of the African Nations Championships, which has been running since the 2nd of this month in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
A total of 43 matches have been played so far in five different venues across four cities: Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kampala.
85 goals has been scored, with Oussama Lamlioui from Morocco leading the golden boot race on 4 goals.
Last edition champions Senegal settled for a bronze medal after overcoming Sudan on penalties after a 1-1 draw on Friday at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Winners of Saturday’s final between Morocco and Madagascar at the Kasarani stadium will get a cash reward of Ksh 453 million, and the 2nd runners-up will pocket Ksh 155 million, while Senegal will take home Ksh 90 million for finishing third.
It’s also the first time that FIFA President Gianni Infantino will be gracing a football match in Kenya.
The three East African countries have managed to organise a superb tournament, from the organisation to the electric fans and the use of the video assistant referees (VAR).
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania used the tournament to prepare for the 2027 African Cup of Nations finals.
