The FIFA U20 World Cup 2025 kicks off tonight in Chile

The 24th edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup will kick off on Saturday night in Chile, bringing together 24 teams from 6 confederations.

The Biennial Youth Global Championship is returning to Chile for a 2nd time since 1987, with Argentina the most decorated team, having bagged six titles, followed by their South American rivals Brazil on 5 trophies.

Uruguay will be defending the title they won in 2023 in Argentina after pipping Italy by a solitary goal.

Matches will be staged in four stadiums located in 4 different cities: Santiago, Valparaiso, Talca and Rancagua.

African champions South Africa, Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria will represent the continent.

Japan will lock horns with Egypt from 11 pm in Group A at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, Santiago, as South Korea faces Ukraine in the Group B opener at the
Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, Valparaíso, has another 11 pm kick-off.

Early tomorrow morning hosts Chile will tackle New Zealand in Group B, while Panama will be up against Paraguay in the same kickoff of Group B.

The final will be played on the 20th of next month.
