Team New Dawn ready to drop court case if assured free and fair NOCK election

Team New Dawn in the National Olympic Committee of Kenya elections, led by outgoing 1st Deputy President Shadrack Maluki, has agreed to withdraw the court case in the High Court of Kenya it had filed in Eldoret, which stopped the election that was to be conducted on the 19th of last month.

Speaking to the media today, the team, represented by attorney Japheth Munyendo, stated that they are prepared for the elections as soon as possible following the expiry  of the current office mandate  on April 30 of this year.

“We are ready to withdraw our court case at the HighCourt of Kenya in Eldoret which stopped the election,but the one at the High Court of Bomet can continue since it dint stop the election.We only want an all inclusive free and fair election,if that is guaranteed we are ready for the election even tomorrow.”said Munyendo

The group has, however, called on the IEBC to ensure all the 25 federations exercise their democratic rights, which will guarantee  a level playing ground.

Maluki called on their opponents to allow for free and fair election so as not to affect the Movement’s  programmes .

“We are happy with the National Assembly Committee for Sports on its directive and we are ready for the election.”stated Maluki

The Kenya Table Tennis Association had filed a case at the High Court of Eldoret after it was declared illegally in office and barred from the 19th June election, a move that could have far-reaching implications on the elections since the federation had seconded many candidates in their  team New Dawn from different federations in the upcoming elections.

Their statement comes barely hours after the National Assembly Sports Committee led by Webuye West  MP Da Wanyama, ordered the two factions in the NOCK elections to immediately withdraw all court cases and conduct elections within 14 days.

The National Assembley  sports committee had summoned the NOCK National Executive Committee to appear before it today to respond and update it on the fate of the elections, which has already been aborted twice.
