    SBM Bank appoints Bhartesh Shah as new chief executive

    SBM Bank has appointed Bhartesh Shah as its new Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.

    Until his appointment, Shah was the immediate former I&M Bank Cheif Operating Officer.

    ”He is a well-suited candidate for the position and will lead the Bank in achieving its growth goals to become the predominant leader in the Kenyan market. His strategic vision will drive essential business transformation to enhance the impact on economies and communities in our vicinity,” said the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hajee Abdoula.

    Shah previously served in many executive positions in various institutions including, I&M Group, Equity Group Holdings, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank, and Midland Bank (HSBC) in various regions such as Eastern Africa, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

    He brings to SBM a vast wealth of experience in banking, operational management, people management, and strategy and business acumen and aims to drive market share growth and lead the bank towards sustainable prosperity.

    He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University Of Warwick- Warwick Business School, and a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.

    Polo action continues this weekend at the Nairobi Polo Club

    Polo action will continue this weekend with the Casino Cup 6-Goal Tournament   the 4th out  9 series of  the 2023/24 polo season.

    Each side has a combined handicap of 6, which suggests that the matches will feature a combination of younger, inexperienced players and more seasoned players to produce excellent match-ups.

    SBM Bank Kenya contributed Sh3 million to the Nairobi Polo Club’s season this year as a sponsorship fee with the intention of promoting the game.

    Additionally, this will give SBM a chance to interact with and connect with customers during the competitions.

    SBM Bank faces off against Tusker Malt in action at the Zambia Men’s International Tournament at the Nairobi Polo Club

    The nine-goal international event, which saw youthful athletes like Jadini Nzomo, who is rated one goal, get national team caps, served as a springboard for the forthcoming three-day competition. The CEO, Moezz Mir, said:

    SBM Bank’s team battles Tusker Malt in the Zambia International Men’s tournament at the Nairobi Polo Club. Tusker Malt emerged as the winner with 7 points, while SBM’s team scored 6

    After this weekend Polo action will take a  three-month break at the Club following the Casino Cup, before the Chukkers and Carols Christmas Polo Tournament brings polo back to Nairobi on December 23, 2023.

    Nairobi Polo Club receives sponsorship boost ahead of new season

    Preparations for the new 2023 Polo season has been boosted following a new partnership with SBM Bank.

    The partnership will see the increase of the games activities and visibility throughout the season.

    Nairobi Polo Club Chairperson, Fredd Kambo said they are committed to ensuring that polo remains to be one of East Africa’s most popular sport.

    “We are excited to have SBM Bank Kenya on board as the official bank sponsor for the upcoming season. We have an ambitious roadmap to grow this club and a strong partnership with our sponsors is key to achieving this objective.”

    Kambo revealed the new season comprising of nine tournaments is set to begin on July 14th calling for more intrested to join the sport.

    SBM Bank remarked that their choice of partnership with Polo was due to the sports remarkable rich history and prestige.
