    Nigerian duo Osimhen and Oshoala named African finest

    Nigeria and Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen, the Super Falcons, and Barcelona sensational
    Asisat Oshoala were named the best African footballers of tge year on Monday night during the 2023 CAF awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.

    Osimhen scored 26 goals to help Napoli win its first serie A title in 33 years.

    The forward was declared the winner ahead of PSG’s and home favorite Achraf Hakimi and last year’s runners-up Mo Salah of Egypt and Liverpool.

    Osimhen won the most covetated award in the continent and became the first Nigerian to win it since Nwanko Kanu in 1999.

    Oshoala, on her part, extended her dominance over the title to 6th after seeing off stiff competition from Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa, Racing Louisville, and
    Barbara Banda of Zambia and Shanghai Shengli.

    The gala was attended by CAF President Dr.Patrice Motsepe.

    Ahly and Mamelodi best clubs in 2023

    Reigning Champions Al Ahly of Egypt and Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa were declared the best clubs in 2023 at the colorful Confederation of African Football Awards held on Monday night in Marrakech City,Morocco.

    In other awards Fatma Tagnout of Morcco and South Africa’s Percy Tau emerged winners in the interclub for women and men categories respectively.

    Lamine Camara of Senegal and Nesryne El Chad from Morocco bagged the young player of the year awards for both men men and women on that order.

    Morocco and Nigeria bag best team of the year awards in Marrakech

    Atlas Lions of Morocco and Super Falcons of Nigeria were crowned the 2023 teams of the year during tha CAF Awards which were held on Monday night in Marrakech City of Morocco.

    Super Falcons overcame Atlas Lionessses and South Africa’s BanyanaBanyana to emerge winners.

    Atlas Lions who re wrote history last year being the 1st African country to finish fourth the FIFA World Cup and were announced winners ahead of Gambia and Senegal.

    Morocco will host the 2023 CAF Awards for the second year running

    Morocco has been selected to stage the 2023 CAF Awards on December 11th to celebrate the stars of African football for the second time in a row.

    The Morrocan Capital of Rabat staged last year’s edition, which saw Senegal forward Sadio Mane and Nigerian and Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala claim honors.

    The awards will recognize the standout performers from club and country over the past year, with the highlight being the crowning of the CAF African Player of the Year in both the men’s and women’s categories.

    Mane and Oshoala will face stiff competition from some of the continent’s brightest stars who have shone in the last 12 months.

    Other award categories this year include Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, and Goal of the Year.

    CAF will announce Morocco’s host city for the gala later.
