Government to include non-registered learners in KCPE 2023 candidature

The government has directed all the officers responsible for administering the national exams to ensure that all learners sit the examinations.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) are set to begin (today) Monday, 30th October 2023 and end on Wednesday, November 1.

In a statement the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education Ezekiel Machogu says his ministry has received reports that there are schools/examination centres which, for one reason or the other, did not register some of their candidates for the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.

The CS noted that failing to register learners for examinination was a serious breach which wrongfully disenfranchises them adding that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible, in accordance with the law.

CS Machogu has advised all affected learners to report to their respective schools/designated examination centres for purposes of sitting the examination on the scheduled dates.

“Since this is the last KCPE, learners shall not be disadvantaged by exclusion from the examination, on account of non-registration.” Noted CS Machogu.

There are 1,282,574 candidates set to sit the KPSEA assessments.

Candidates set to sit KCPE exams this year are 1,415, 315.

170,982 more candidates registered for KCPE this year compared to last year.
