State launches rural electrification project in Tharaka Nithi

President William Ruto’s administration has intensified its grassroots development agenda by officially launching a rural electrification project at Ntithini Market and Gitareni areas in Mugwe and Igamba Ng’ombe wards.
Speaking during the launch event, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Alex Wachira, and Principal Secretary for the Blue Economy, Betsy Muthoni Njagi, affirmed the government’s commitment to improving the lives of local residents through key infrastructure projects such as electricity.
They emphasized that access to power will greatly enhance small businesses and uplift the community’s economic status.
Chuka Igamba Ng’ombe Member of Parliament Patrick Munene, who was also present, said the newly installed power lines will enable residents to create self-employment opportunities, grow small-scale businesses, and support special groups including people living with disabilities and widows.
