Security Heads to be held accountable for breaches, Kindiki warns

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has warned that the government will hold security heads accountable for any breaches within their jurisdiction.

Kindiki said exceptions will only be made where an officer demonstrates that they had taken reasonable measures to avert or mitigate the breach.

Speaking during a meeting with Security Heads in Kitui, the CS further directed every County Security Team to adopt and implement a measurable Security Management Plan.

“This plan will focus on the maintenance of law and order, preventive security measures, effective command and control of subordinates, and timely law enforcement,” he stated.

In a separate meeting in Tala, Machakos County Kindiki directed security officers to flush out the rising cases of drug peddling as well as the consumption of narcotic drugs and shisha.

At least 4, 800 alcoholic outlets operating within the prohibited proximity to basic learning institution have been shut down and licenses revoked.

Additionally, over 9, 500 premises selling unlicensed alcoholic drinks have also been closed and 12 distilleries of toxic brews destroyed in the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews, narcotic drugs and substance abuse.
