Resilient Nairobi United shock Gor Mahia 2-1, to punch continental ticket

National Super League Champions Nairobi United ended Gor Mahia’s hope of continental football next season after overcoming them 2-1, in the Mozzart Bet Cup final played at the Ulinzi Complex on Sunday.
Ivory Coast midfielder Frank Ouya opened the scoring for the highly motivated Nairobi United in the 6th minute, before Gor equalised through Ben Omondi in the 37th minute, with both sides heading into the interval level.
Enock Mashaka scored the winner for the Nairobi County-sponsored side in the 73rd minute and held on for a precious victory and a huge morale booster after earning promotion in the FKF Premier League season.
The victory earned the Nicholas Muyoti charges the Mozzart Bet Cup and Ksh 2 million and a history-making opportunity, as they will represent the country for the 1st time in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Murang’a Seal took the bronze medal following a 1 -0 win over Mara Sugar in the 3rd position play off.
