NPS partners with US DEA to combat drug trafficking

The National Police Service (NPS) has partnered with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (US DEA) to intensify the fight against drug trafficking and dismantle organised criminal networks.

The agreement was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), witnessed by the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, and the US DEA’s Special Agent in Charge of Africa and the Middle East, Jason Schumacher.

The MoU commits both agencies to deepening cooperation in enforcing drug laws, curbing illicit drug trafficking, and addressing transnational crimes such as money laundering.

The partnership will strengthen intelligence sharing, facilitate joint operations, and boost investigative capacity aimed at disrupting narcotics-related activities in the region.

Schumacher was accompanied by the US DEA Country Attaché, Karl Ash, and Deputy Attachés Mathias Walls and Scott Jenkins.

The collaboration is expected to bolster Kenya’s capacity to tackle drug-related crimes and promote a united front against cross-border threats to public safety and national security.
