Nigeria and South Africa open their FIFA Under 20 World Cup campaign with defeats

African Champions South Africa and Nigeria opened their 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup campaigns with defeats on Monaday night in Chile.
South Africa were beaten 2-1 by France in Group E while USA hammered debutants New Caledonia 9-1 in another group’s match.
In group F, Rasmus Holte’s 9th minute goal from a spot kick was enough to see Norway overcome Nigeria while Colombia were aslo 1-0 victors over Saudi Arabia in another match.
Egypt will open rund two matches as they face New Zealand in a must win for both sides who lost their opening group A fixtures,Egypt going down 2-0 to Japan while New Zealand were beaten 2-1 by hosts Chile.
