Ndindi appeals for patience on reopening of schools amid ongoing floods

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has urged Kenyan parents to be patient with the government and wait for school reopening at a time when the government deems fit, posing no risk for learners.

Speaking at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish church in Kweluu, Mwingi West constituency, where he led a fundraiser, the MP said that the lives of learners were more important than unnecessary urgency to reopen schools amid the ongoing floods.

The legislator also promised to ensure that the government is given enough resources to address the current havoc caused by floods.

Ndindi who is also the Chair of the Budget Committee in the National Assembly, said he will oversee the passing of all budgetary allocations to assist victims of the ongoing floods.

He urged leaders to desist from involving themselves in unending politics and instead focus on development once the electioneering period is over.

The MP further stated that the government will allocate funds to employ junior secondary school teachers who had been working on internships on a permanent basis, as well as hire an additional 20,000 teachers to boost education.

Ndindi promised the completion of stalled projects in Kitui, which ended midway. .

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, on his part, emphasised the importance of completing the Kitui-Kibwezi road, which has stalled for years.

He called for compensation for the victims of the recent Mandera terror attack, most of whom came from Kitui County.
