Mudavadi rallies support for Ruto, emphasizes unity in governance

Critics of President William Ruto have been urged to change tune and support his development agenda or remain in the political cold for long.

While speaking at an Iftar fundraiser in aid of the Malindi Education and Development Foundation (MEDA-F) at a Malindi hotel in Kilifi county, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) pact had made it easier for the Kenya Kwanza administration to work and rectify past governance mistakes and hence they needed support of all Kenyans.

“As Kenyans, let’s embrace unity and dialogue. That is why we have the broad-based government and we want a broad based government to pull together and offer solutions to Kenyans,” he said.

Mudavadi who gave Ruto’s donation of two million Kenya shillings called on Kenyans to embrace peace in the wake of conflicts in neighboring countries of Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Democratic Republic of Congo where Ruto was spearheading peace solutions.

“We can disagree and we must disagree from time to time which is alright but we should not fight. Let us work together, let us correct each other, let us criticize each other but let us be reasonable in what we do so that we move forward together,” he said.

He added that the cooperation between Kenya Kwanza and ODM had given the government the much-needed majority in the legislature and it was time to steer the country for development.

“We have a golden opportunity as Kenyans with the cooperation of Kenya Kwanza and ODM in the broad based government, we have the greatest opportunity in a long time for us to correct and shape the agenda of this country for better for many years to come,” he said.

Among leaders who accompanied Mudavadi were Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Chibule, Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and her counterparts Owen Baya of Kilifi North and Ali Wario of Garsen, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, Principal Secretary nominee for youth affairs Fikirini Jacobs and Shella ward MCA Twahir Abdulkarim among others.

The leaders thanked the president for state appointments in the area and called for unity among Kenyans.

“Today Fikirini is the youngest PS nominee in the history of Kenya after Matiba. When the President sacked Aisha Jumwa, I asked him to replace her with two PS positions if it won’t be possible to reinstate her and today, he has given us two PS positions, one for Muslims and the other for Christians,” said Owen Baya.
