Mt Kenya government officials engage public in town hall meetings

Principal Secretaries, government spokesperson and heads of parastatals have intensified town hall meetings with the electorate in Mt Kenya region in a bid to explain the government’s development agenda in the region.
Government officials on Saturday pitched camp in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, to engage with the public on issues affecting them and to highlight ongoing development projects in the region.
Led by Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, the officials urged residents of Kirinyaga and the greater Mt. Kenya region to support the government’s efforts and refrain from opposing infrastructure projects, particularly road developments.
Muthoni stated that the government has undertaken numerous development projects in the region, but the opposition has allegedly been misleading the public about the government’s agenda.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, on his part, affirmed that the administration will continue engaging the public to create awareness about ongoing projects and to counter opposition propaganda.
