Members of Parliament from the Finance and National Planning Committee will today begin public consultations on proposed taxes aimed at addressing a Ksh346 billion budget deficit.
The exercise which kicks off in Isiolo and Bungoma counties seeks to gather Kenyans’ views on measures intended to fill the gap occasioned by the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024.
In Isiolo County, the hearings will take place at the Bishop Menza Pastoral Center Hall while in Bungoma County they will be held at the Kenya Red Cross Hall.
The bills under consideration during the public hearings include:
- The Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024
- The Tax Procedures (Amendment) Bill 2024
- The Public Finance Management (Amendment) (No. 3) Bill 2024
- The Public Finance Management (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill 2024
- The Public Procurement and Disposal Act (Amendment) Bill 2024.
