MOH to implement planned transfer of UHC staff payroll to counties

The Government has vowed to implement the planned transfer of Universal Health Coverage staff payroll to counties come 1st July 2025.
Speaking during the flag-off of 2000 cold chain equipment among them refrigerators, cold boxes and temperature monitors for preserving vaccines to the counties at Afya House, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the matter remains non-negotiable even as the UHC staff took to the streets for the 2nd day in Nairobi demanding permanent and pensionable terms.
The initiative, which is part of a national effort to strengthen immunization infrastructure, has cost the government over Ksh 2.1 billion.
He disclosed that the transfer of the payroll for UHC staff will be moved to counties starting 1st July 2025.
CS Duale would later appear before the national Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Health amid queries by legislators that the Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth was being sidelined.
His remarks come in the wake of queries of alleged leadership wrangles within the Ministry.
