Lokedi replaces injured Kosgei in the Paris Olympic marathon team

The 2022 New York City marathon champion Sharon Lokedi has replaced former marathon world record holder Brigid Kosgei in the Paris Olympic marathon team.
In a communique from the national olympic committee of Kenya NOC-K, Lokedi, who also won silver medal in this year’s Boston Marathon, has replaced Kosgei, who has been forced to pull out due to an injury.
Upon a review by the medical team led by the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ondiege, Kosgei has raised an injury concern during the training session and won’t be able to compete in Paris.
The 30 year old now joins defending champion Peres Jepchirchir and two-time Boston marathon champion Hellen Obiri in the women’s marathon team.
The women marathon team will be the last batch to depart for Paris with their event set for 11th next month.
