Kware Police Station officers transferred as probe begins

The Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has transferred officers from Kware Police Station to ensure a fair and balanced investigation into the Mukuru Kwa Njenga murders.

Speaking at a press briefing Sunday afternoon, the IG noted that the preliminary investigations show that all the eight bodies recovered at Kware dumpsite in Mukuru kwa Njenga were female and were severely dismembered.

“I have moved officers from Kware Police Station to ensure a fair and balanced investigation.“ Said Ag. IG Kanja.

He reiterated the commitment of the authorities to conducting transparent, thorough, and swift investigations.

“Our departmental resources and officers in collaboration with Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) are working tirelessly to conclude the investigations in 21 days.“ He noted.

Similarly he said the police were committed to ensuring transparency in the postmortem examination process by collaborating with various stakeholders, including the media and civil society.

“In these difficult times, we stand with the community and remain committed to uncovering the truth and bringing those responsible to book.“

Kanja appealed to members of public to avoid any speculation and instead give room to investigation and volunteer information with the authorities to help with the probe.

“I appeal to residents of Kware and public at large to be patient and wait for investigations to be concluded.“ He said.

Speaking at the same briefing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Amin Mohamed said the bodies that were recovered were eight in number of women aged  between 18-30.

“We recovered eight bodies from Kware dumpsite in Nairobi. Their age is between 18-30. All are female. Are we dealing with a cult, serial killers, rogue medical practitioners? We have deployed our best investigators.“ He noted.
