Kenya strengthens vaccine collaboration with Gavi, National Treasury

Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring consistent access to life-saving vaccines across all health facilities in Kenya.

During a meeting with representatives from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Principal Secretary for National Treasury, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, the parties discussed ways to streamline vaccine financing structures.

The focus was on improving coordination between Gavi’s support and the Government of Kenya’s counterpart contributions to bolster the national immunization programme.

“We are aligning vaccine financing with a seamless and efficient supply chain to guarantee the continuous availability of vaccines, especially for children under five,” Dr. Oluga stated.

The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to ensuring equitable, timely, and uninterrupted access to both routine and novel vaccines, as part of Kenya’s broader Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
