KeNHA announces traffic disruption, maps alternative routes on Madaraka day

Motorists plying Malaba-Webuye road will experience traffic disruption for 12 hours on Saturday due to the Madaraka Day celebrations to be held at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma, Kakamega county.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Tuesday announced traffic disruption on the A8 Road between Malaba Border and Webuye Town and adjacent roads from 6 am to 6 pm.

Consequently, the authority has mapped alternative routes for traffic bound for the North Rift, Nyanza and Western Regions.

Motorists plying A8 Road between Malaba and Webuye have the option of using two main routes as follows; Malaba – Rwatama – Sirisia – Chwele – Kimilili – Misikhu – Webuye (Total: 91.9 Km, with Rwatama to Sirisia section of 16 Km done to gravel standards) or Malaba – Kimaeti – Mungatsi – Mayoni – Kakamega – Webuye.

Those plying Malaba and Kisumu can follow Malaba – Busia – Kisumu or Malaba – Kimaeti – Mungatsi – Mayoni – Ekero – Ebuyangu – Kisumu.

For Malaba and Kitale, motorists can use Malaba – Rwatama – Sirisia – Chwele – Kimilili – Kamukuywa – Kitale.

Two routes have been mapped for return traffic through Lwakhakha border namely Lwakhakha – Korisiandet – Wamono – Sirisia (Total: 15 Km) or Matisi – Bokoli – Teremi.

Motorists are advised to adhere and follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as directed by the Police and Traffic Marshals on-site.

Additionally, Malaba-bound Transit Cargo trucks are encouraged to utilize the truck holding bay at Leseru until the conclusion of the celebrations.
