Heroes Council to roll out framework for recognizing impactful Kenyans

The National Heroes Council now says it is in the process of developing a mechanism to recognize Kenyans who have made positive contributions to the country’s development both locally and abroad.

National Heroes Council Chief Executive Officer, Charles Wambia, says the mechanism is contained in the council’s strategic plan clearly outlines how those to be honored will be recognized.

On Sunday in Kwale county during Mashujaa day celebrations President William Ruto  honoured 142 heroes and heroines for their outstanding contribution to nation-building in various fields.

Among them a pupil at Hillside Endarasha primary school in Nyeri county Luiz  Ngumo honoured for championing for  human right and  Dr Ruben West who was honoured for humanitarian diplomacy and world civility ambassador.

Wambia has challenged the heroes and heroines to make use of their recognition for positive change in society.

Those honoured were identified from various fields such as philanthropy, spiritual leadership, indigenous knowledge, arts, sports, research, environmental conservation, human rights, national cohesion and integration, and entrepreneurship among others.
