HAPPENING NOW: IG Kanja appears before Public Accounts Committee

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja is appearing before the Public Accounts Committee following a summons issued last week.
The police boss is expected to explain why the National Police Service (NPS) denied the National Police Service Commission access to audit the service’s payroll.
Established under National Assembly Standing Order 205, the committee is entrusted with the responsibility of reviewing the accounts related to the appropriation of funds approved by the House for public expenditure.
Additionally, it is empowered to examine any other financial records or reports that may be deemed relevant for ensuring proper fiscal governance.
