Govt is deliberate in creating jobs, Labour PS says

Kenya has placed job creation at the core of its national development strategy.

Speaking during the International Labour Organization ILO conference in Geneva, Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary, Shadrack Mwadime said the government has taken deliberate steps to stimulate employment in all sectors.

At the same time, the PS commended ILO for maintaining unwavering focus on the centrality of decent work in the face of global uncertainty, inequality, and climate disruptions.

Meanwhile the government has announced new job opportunities for Kenyans in Jersey Island, a British Crown Dependency located in the Channel Islands.

In a statement, the Ministry of Labour said the vacancies span several sectors, including agriculture, hospitality, and healthcare.

The initiative is part of a bilateral agreement aimed at creating safe and structured labour migration pathways for Kenyan workers.

Applicants must meet specific skill and qualification requirements, and the government has assured that all recruitment processes will be transparent and regulated to prevent exploitation.

The Ministry is expected to release detailed application guidelines in the coming days.
