Government registers over Ksh.22M Kenyans under SHA
The government has registered more than 22 million shillings Kenyans under the Social Health Authority (SHA), marking a major milestone in the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Speaking during a the Social Sector National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) meeting held in Nairobi on Tuesday, Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, noted that SHA’s digital systems are now fully stable, supporting efficient delivery of services across the country.
“Healthcare providers have already served 1.2 million Kenyans, with claims processed amounting to Kshs 45 billion.” Dr. Oluga noted.
Adding that: “The Social Health Authority is changing the health financing landscape and cushioning Kenyans who would otherwise slide into poverty because of hospital bills.”
The meeting that was chaired by Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development, Shadrack Mwadime, brought together leaders from 13 State Departments and their Principal Secretaries.
The forum tracks progress and ensures coordinated implementation of key social sector programmes.
