England Silenced at Home by Senegal in FIFA Friendly

The Teranga Lions of Senegal became the first African side to beat England after thrashing them 3-1, on Tuesday night in their backyard at the City Ground in a FIFA international friendly.

Harry Kane put the three Lions ahead in the eighth minute, but Ismaila Sarr levelled for the former African Champions just five minutes before halftime.

Despite being very passionate throughout the game, England lacked firepower in the final third, unlike their opponents, who were ruthless in their attacks.

Habbib Diarra put Senegal ahead in the 60th minute after connecting with Kalidou Coulibaly’s ball.

England appeared to have salvaged a draw with Jude Bellingham’s goal six minutes from time, only for it to be disallowed by VAR.

The home team’s desperation for an equaliser caught them off surprise as Senegal launched a counterattack late into extra time, with Lamnine Camara racing down the left wing before giving the ball to Cheikh Sabally, who easily tapped it into the net, beating Henderson for a third goal.

Senegal’s victory made them the first African team to defeat England in an international match.
