Chebukati’s burial ceremony gets underway in Trans Nzoia

The burial ceremony for the late Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati is underway at his Sabata home in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
The former IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati passed away last month (February 21st) while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.
Chebukati served as the IEBC chairperson from 2017 on a six-year tenure until his retirement in 2023 January after overseeing his second General Elections in August 2022.
He succeeded Ahmed Isaack Hassan, the first IEBC Chairperson under the new Constitution 2010.
President William Ruto accompanied by a host of national leaders are among the mourners attending the burial service.
