CHAN 2024:Kenya to host the final,Tanzania handed opening match

Kenya will host the final of the delayed 2024 CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) on 30th August this year at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The decision was made today following consultations between CAF and the three nations that will be hosting the 8th edition this year (Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda) from August 2nd to the 30th.

Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the opening match of the tournament on 2nd August, as Uganda’s Mandela Stadium in Kampala will stage the bronze medal match.

Furthermore, Zanzibar has been chosen as one of the host locations, a move that demonstrates CAF’s dedication to promoting African football’s inclusion and reach.

The host cities for the group stages of the tournament are as follows:

Group A comprises Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo and Zambia and will be based in Nairobi, while Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will stage Group B fixtures, which consist of Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic.

Group C teams will be based in Kampala, Uganda, featuring Uganda, Niger, Guinea, South Africa and Algeria, while Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium will host group D teams that include hosts Zanzibar, Senegal, Congo, which has been reinstated to replace Equatorial Guinea, initially suspended by FIFA, Sudan and Nigeria.
