CHAN 2024: Defending Champions Senegal hit residential training camp

Senegal’s home-based national team began their preparation for the defence of their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) crown with a two-week residential training camp yesterday, 30th June.

The Teranga Lions is camping at the Jules François Bocandé Technical Development Centre in Toubab Dialaw is part of the early groundwork laid by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) ahead of the tournament, which runs from August 2 to 30, 2025, across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

A total of 28 players have been selected for the initial phase of preparations, with several drawn from top-performing clubs in the Senegalese domestic league.

Teungueth FC, reigning champions of Ligue 1, boasts the highest number of representatives, with four players earning call-ups.

The camp is designed to give the players a head start in terms of tactical routines, fitness management, and team cohesion, as the Teranga Lions A ’look to retain the title they won in Algeria in 2023.

Senegal, now under pressure to defend their continental crown, is in Group D alongside Nigeria, Sudan, and Congo.

The Teranga Lions will get their title defence underway at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar against Nigeria in a West African derby on the 5th of next month.
