Camels, culture and thrills: Maralal International Camel Derby returns this September

Maralal is set to host the 32nd Samburu Maralal International Camel Derby from September 25–28, 2025, one of Kenya’s most iconic cultural and sporting festivals.
Over 30,000 visitors from Kenya and beyond will gather for action-packed camel races, colorful cultural performances, traditional cuisine, and artisanal markets celebrating the rich heritage of the Samburu and northern Kenya communities.
“This is more than a race, it’s a celebration of culture, tourism, and peace,” said Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano. “We invite the world to come experience the magic of Maralal!”
With participants from over 70 countries, this year’s derby promises thrills, diversity, and unforgettable experiences, all set against the stunning landscapes of northern Kenya.
