Agriculture CS Linturi off the hook in impeachment probe

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is now a free man after he was left off the hook over the fake fertilizer scandal.
A report tabled in the National Assembly by Naomi Waqo led 11 member select committee exonerated the Cabinet Secretary from any wrong doing in relation to the fake fertilizer scandal.
Linturi had been accused of gross misconduct and violating the constitution following alleged sale and distribution of fake fertilizer to farmers.
In the motion, Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka had accused the CS of gross misconduct and violation of the constitution over the fake fertilizer scandal.
But the committee in it finds rubbished all the allegations saying their fall flat in the face of justice.
Through four members of the committee had a dissenting opinion, the law gives it to majority and the CS had seven members on his side.
However, the furious lawmakers backing the impeachment motion called for his sacking saying as the senior most government official at the helm of agriculture ministry he bears the highest responsibility.
