AFCON 2025: Hosts Morocco face Zambia in a must-win match

AFCON 2025: Hosts Morocco face Zambia in a must-win match as final group matches start today.
Hosts Morocco will face Zambia in a tricky group. A fixture today at the 67,000-seater Prince Moulay Stadium in Rabat.
Despite leading the group on 4 points, the Atlas Lions have been unconvincing, with head coach Wallid Regragui getting immense pressure from the home fans to deliver not only good results but also a 2nd title on home soil.
Some locals whom I have spoken to seem to lack faith in the coach’s tactics and care about their ageing squad.
Morocco leads the group on 4 points, followed by Mali and Zambia on 2 points each, while Comoros is last on 1 point.
Comoros will face Mali in another final group match to be played simultaneously from 10pm at Casablanca’s Mohamed V stadium.
In Group B the already qualified Egypt will tackle Angola at the Stade Adrar in Agadir, while Zimbabwe faces South Africa in the tourist city of Marrakech staring 7pm Kenyan time and 5pm local time.
Morocco, Nigeria and Algeria have already sealed their slots in the round of 16, with Botswana, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea having been eliminated.
The group matches end on the 31st before the 2nd round fixtures, which begin on Saturday, 3rd January.
